# Crimp

Use the connected Crimp MCP tools when available. The hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint is `https://crimp.studio/api/mcp`. Connecting a client is separate from using this skill.

Without MCP, read `https://crimp.studio/api/agent-tools` for current tool names and JSON schemas, then POST `{ "tool": "name", "arguments": { ... } }` to the same URL. No API key is required. Setup and scope: https://crimp.studio/developers/.

- Find exact catalog IDs with `search_components`; inspect specifications, terminals and catalog provenance with `get_component`. Check manufacturer instructions separately. A similar catalog part is not evidence for the user's actual equipment.
- Use `calculate_circuit` for a supported wire or DC-DC charger calculation. Preserve missing, invalid, unsupported and provisional results. Ask for required installation facts rather than inventing them.
- Use `analyze_system` for a supplied Crimp graph. Read the findings and unresolved inputs as well as computed sizes. A successful tool call does not mean the design passed every check.
- Use `create_draft` when the user wants a planning drawing. Supply catalog-based topology, explicit estimated flags, one-way lengths in metres and assumptions. Crimp computes wire and fuse sizes. The public beta is limited to 10 counted equipment components, 40 expanded components and 100 cables.
- Return the tool's `reviewUrl` with the material findings and assumptions. Opening it offers review and creation of a new local project; the API neither saves to an account nor publishes the drawing. The link itself contains draft data, so share it only with the intended recipient.

These tools use Crimp's supported ABYC E-11 calculations, not a general compliance certification. Keep manufacturer requirements, unknown physical conditions, provisional current paths and unsupported checks visible in the answer. See https://crimp.studio/guides/what-crimp-checks/ for coverage.

The service does not read private projects, mutate saved projects, buy parts or provide paid exports. Respect `429` and `Retry-After`; use bounded retries for transient errors and correct invalid arguments before retrying.
