Cable sizing for this example

Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.

Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

Match the V2-T model

This entry is the Epoch Elite Series 12V 460Ah V2-T, C12460A-A, with a serviceable 400 A Eaton Bussmann JJN-400 Class T fuse. It has 12.8 V nominal voltage, 460 Ah capacity, internal heating, an included Bluetooth SOC meter and Victron CAN communication. The Essential Series and V2 without the T are different models. See the manufacturer's product listing.

Use continuous current for planning

The October 2026 V03 datasheet gives 230 A continuous discharge and 210 A continuous charge at 25°C. Its 500 A discharge peak lasts 10 seconds; the 300 A charge peak lasts 5 seconds. Neither peak nor the internal fuse rating is a continuous operating allowance. Crimp uses the continuous ratings for the battery and terminals.

Keep external cable protection

The built-in Class T fuse protects the battery internally; it does not replace downstream conductor protection. The V03 manual calls for an appropriately rated external main fuse or DC breaker and a main disconnect near the battery. Add that protection to the diagram and size it for the wiring and installation. Crimp retains its external protection checks rather than treating the internal 400 A fuse as a user-installed terminal fuse. See manual, pages 16–18.

Connections and expansion

The battery has M8 terminals, with negative on the left and positive on the right in the catalog image. The current documents specify 12 Nm terminal torque. Dimensions are 529.8 × 219.8 × 306.3 mm and weight is 44.25 kg. Up to four matching units may be connected in series, or sixteen in parallel; combined series-parallel banks are not supported. Follow the matching manual for balancing, communication and commissioning.
