About this wiring example

Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.

Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

Which Gen2 battery is covered?

The Seat Base 230 Ah is a 12.8 V battery rated for 250 A charging and discharging, according to its model-specific sheet. Do not substitute the upright Gen2 230 Ah battery’s 300 A specification. The 275 × 315 × 187.5 mm metal case includes heating, Bluetooth and active balancing.

What must be checked before connection?

Secure the battery under the seat while preserving clearance for terminals, seat mechanisms and service access. The August 2026 range manual recommends leaving discharge disabled during installation and limiting each post to two cable lugs; use busbars for more connections.

The current Seat Base product page identifies M10 terminals, matching the Gen2 range manual. Use the supplied hardware and correctly fitting lugs. The manual recommends 6 Nm, within its stated 4–8 Nm range; do not stack more than two lugs on a post.

How are charging and heating configured?

The Seat Base sheet specifies 14.4 V bulk, 13.5 V float, with 14.6 V maximum charging voltage. Its heater uses incoming charging power; a cold connected charger can warm the cells before current enters them. It is not continuous heating powered from the stored battery energy.

How do you commission it?

Check polarity, external fuse/disconnect sizing and total charger output, then enable discharge using the unit’s button/app. An apparent 0–2 V at the posts can mean discharge is disabled. Check BMS status before diagnosing a failed battery. Battery-link ports carry communications, not parallel-bank current; every battery still needs its own correctly sized power connections.

Build it out

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Add Drift Gen2 Seat Base 12V 230Ah to your diagram, then connect your batteries, chargers and loads. Crimp calculates cable sizes and checks the connections as you draw.

Every cable you draw there is sized against ABYC E-11, from the same tables as the reference on this page.

Supporting parts

  1. A lug or terminal to match each post on the part
  2. Strain relief and boots so nothing chafes or shorts
  3. Cable and fuses sized once the whole system is drawn

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Manufacturer specifications describe the equipment. Crimp calculates cable results from the circuit and assumptions you enter.

From the maker

What the catalog says

Manufacturer, model, ratings and which terminal does what come from the catalog. A newer revision, or the nameplate on the unit in your hand, can say something different — when it does, the nameplate wins.

ABYC E-11

What Crimp worked out

Sized against ABYC E-11 — the US reference, and what Transport Canada accepts as an alternative to TP 1332 for pleasure craft under 24 m. The run length and the current above are what drive the result. Crimp doesn't know how warm your space gets; draw the cable inside an engine-bay zone on the canvas and it sizes for the heat.
