About this wiring example

Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.

Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

Which battery is this?

This is LiTime’s 12.8 V 100 Ah TM Bluetooth deep-cycle model, with a 100 A continuous charge/discharge limit. It is separate from the TM Plus and starting-battery ranges. The manufacturer product page identifies it for trolling motors and house loads, expressly excluding engine starting.

How are the connections made?

The two posts are the complete power interface; Bluetooth requires no external communications cable. Manual pages 2–4 identify M8 × 1.25 terminals and 12–14 Nm tightening torque. Secure the case against movement, seat the cable lugs flat and replace the insulating caps. Provide external battery-cable protection: the internal BMS is not a cable fuse.

How should it charge?

Use a LiFePO4 profile at 14.4 V ±0.2 V. The recommended current is 20 A, distinct from the 100 A maximum. Add the outputs of all chargers before checking that limit. Never use lead-acid equalization or desulfation settings on this battery.

What happens in cold weather or under overload?

Charging is blocked below 0°C and resumes after the cells warm above 5°C; this model does not heat itself. The documented one-second surge is a temporary BMS capability, not a continuous wiring rating. If output disappears, remove the fault or excessive load, inspect battery status in the app, and follow the manual’s recovery procedure rather than repeatedly reconnecting an overloaded inverter.

Build it out

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Add 12.8V 100Ah Trolling Motor Smart (100A BMS) to your diagram, then connect your batteries, chargers and loads. Crimp calculates cable sizes and checks the connections as you draw.

Every cable you draw there is sized against ABYC E-11, from the same tables as the reference on this page.

Supporting parts

  1. A lug or terminal to match each post on the part
  2. Strain relief and boots so nothing chafes or shorts
  3. Cable and fuses sized once the whole system is drawn

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Method & provenance

Where the specifications and sizing come from.

Manufacturer specifications describe the equipment. Crimp calculates cable results from the circuit and assumptions you enter.

From the maker

What the catalog says

Manufacturer, model, ratings and which terminal does what come from the catalog. A newer revision, or the nameplate on the unit in your hand, can say something different — when it does, the nameplate wins.

ABYC E-11

What Crimp worked out

Sized against ABYC E-11. Boats built to UK or EU rules answer to ISO 13297 — check these figures against it before you build. The run length and the current above are what drive the result. Crimp doesn't know how warm your space gets; draw the cable inside an engine-bay zone on the canvas and it sizes for the heat.
