Run-length and manufacturer assumptions

The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.

Which Sirocco II and what current?

The 7010 Sirocco II is a cabin circulation fan with automatic 12/24 V sensing. The official online operating manual covers white 7010CAWBX and black 7010CABBX. At 12 V, low/medium/high speed draws 0.12/0.22/0.35 A; at 24 V those values are 0.06/0.11/0.21 A. The catalog uses the 12 V high-speed value. This is not an ignition-protected engine-space or bilge blower.

How should it be mounted and wired?

Use the backing plate and the manual's six #6 fasteners on a suitable structure. Adhesive positioning alone does not retain the fan in a moving vehicle. Leave enough clearance for the gimbal to move without striking furniture or trapping its wiring. Wire the marked positive and negative connections at the base, retaining the supplied nuts and lock washers and tightening them securely as instructed.

The manual describes reverse-polarity and overcurrent protection but does not prescribe an external branch-fuse value. A protected supply is still needed for the cable from the DC distribution point. The 0.35 A terminal envelope in this catalog is the documented 12 V load, not a hardware connector ampacity or permission to leave the feed unprotected.

How do the controls work?

Set the desired direction and lock the gimbal before operation. The power/speed button steps through the three speeds; the timer offers 3, 6, 9 or 12 hours. Check the illuminated timer indicators so an intentional timed shutdown is not mistaken for a power fault. Use lower speed or shorter run time when quiet operation or energy saving matters.

What are the limits and routine checks?

Install in a dry cabin location; this fan is not intended for outdoor exposure, spray or immersion. Keep fingers and loose objects clear of the blades. Isolate power before cleaning, and remove dust gently without forcing the blades or controls. If it fails to start, check the polarity at the fan, the upstream protective device, the base-terminal connections and supply voltage. Use the manual's fault guidance before dismantling the fan. Build it out

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Add Sirocco II 7010 to your diagram, then connect your batteries, chargers and loads. Crimp calculates cable sizes and checks the connections as you draw.

Every cable you draw there is sized against ABYC E-11, from the same tables as the reference on this page.

Supporting parts

  1. 6.1 m total of 1.5 mm² (16 AWG) marine cable
  2. Terminations for 1.5 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
  3. 1 A fuse and holder on the positive run
  4. Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Where the specifications and sizing come from.

Manufacturer specifications describe the equipment. Crimp calculates cable results from the circuit and assumptions you enter.

From the maker

What the catalog says

Manufacturer, model, ratings and which terminal does what come from the catalog. A newer revision, or the nameplate on the unit in your hand, can say something different — when it does, the nameplate wins.

ABYC E-11

What Crimp worked out

Sized against ABYC E-11. Boats built to UK or EU rules answer to ISO 13297 — check these figures against it before you build. The run length and the current above are what drive the result. Crimp doesn't know how warm your space gets; draw the cable inside an engine-bay zone on the canvas and it sizes for the heat.
