Run-length and manufacturer assumptions

The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.

The 12 V Lite Flush 58500-0012 example represents the complete controlled toilet assembly's supply, using its 25 A fuse and 20 A design current. Follow the control, plumbing and cable-length tables; do not connect the internal motors individually from this diagram. Manufacturer installation manual

Identify the foot-switch version

58500-0012 is the 12 V Lite Flush with a foot switch. The first press introduces rinse water; the second completes the flush sequence and leaves the bowl dry. The separate 58500-1012 version uses a control panel. This entry describes the complete toilet assembly and raw-water rinse pump, rather than a bare 240 W motor.

Connect the toilet's control assembly

The manual's 12 V wiring table gives 20 A draw and a 25 A fuse. Feed the control box through an accessible isolating switch, with red positive and black negative. Size conductors using the full battery-to-toilet-and-return length in that table. The catalog terminals represent that incoming supply, with protection-based planning limits.

Keep the factory harness relationships intact: rinse-pump outputs, flush motor and foot-switch connectors are not interchangeable battery feeds. The control-panel socket is not the foot-switch socket. Do not bypass the control sequence by supplying a motor directly, and do not increase the fuse to cure a jammed pump.

Solve the waterline arrangement first

The rinse pump is for raw water; this manual does not authorize connecting the assembly directly to pressurized fresh water. Use the specified inlet and discharge sizes and accessible seacocks. Follow the appropriate drawing for the rim's position relative to the waterline at every expected heel and trim angle.

Where required, the inlet-side vented loop belongs between the rinse pump and the bowl, not in the pump's suction line. A misplaced loop can stop priming while leaving the flooding risk unresolved. Secure hoses and supports, retain access to the pump, and check the particular outlet path to a holding tank or other permitted system. A two-wire electrical example cannot certify the toilet's plumbing.

First operation and routine checks

Open the necessary seacocks for operation. Fill the bowl before use and confirm both stages of the foot-switch sequence, observing inlet flow, evacuation and leaks. Close the inlet and outlet seacocks after use and when the vessel is unattended, as the manual directs. Isolate electricity and close seacocks before opening the assembly; keep fingers clear of the pump impeller.

A weak rinse calls for checking the intake, seacock, air leaks and pump supply. A motor that runs but cannot evacuate calls for inspection of the discharge path and pump. Use compatible cleaners and winterizing procedures from the manual; aggressive solvents or abrasive cleaning can damage toilet parts.

Manual and evidence

Lite Flush manual: PDF pp. 2–6 identify 58500-0012 and explain operation, vented loops, the 20 A/25 A wiring table and control-box connections; pp. 7–9 cover servicing and faults. The marine ledger records the downloaded original.

Build it out

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Add 58500-0012 to your diagram, then connect your batteries, chargers and loads. Crimp calculates cable sizes and checks the connections as you draw.

Every cable you draw there is sized against ABYC E-11, from the same tables as the reference on this page.

Supporting parts

  1. 20 ft total of 10 AWG (6 mm²) marine cable
  2. Terminations for 10 AWG cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
  3. 25 A fuse and holder on the positive run
  4. Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Method & provenance

Where the specifications and sizing come from.

Manufacturer specifications describe the equipment. Crimp calculates cable results from the circuit and assumptions you enter.

What the catalog says

Manufacturer, model, ratings and which terminal does what come from the catalog. A newer revision, or the nameplate on the unit in your hand, can say something different — when it does, the nameplate wins.

ABYC E-11

What Crimp worked out

Sized against ABYC E-11 — the US reference, and what Transport Canada accepts as an alternative to TP 1332 for pleasure craft under 24 m. The run length and the current above are what drive the result. Crimp doesn't know how warm your space gets; draw the cable inside an engine-bay zone on the canvas and it sizes for the heat.
