Sized against ABYC E-11. The design current is the part's continuous draw. The length is one way; voltage drop includes an equal-length return.
Run-length and manufacturer assumptions
The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.

Supporting parts
- 6.1 m total of 10 mm² (8 AWG) marine cable
- Terminations for 10 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
- 25 A fuse and holder on the positive run
- Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable
Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

A controlled holding-tank discharge
18590-2092 is the 12 V macerator; 18590-2094 is the 24 V version. The pump grinds suitable waste and evacuates a holding tank or fish box. It is not intended to pass wipes, rags or sanitary products. Overboard discharge is usable only where permitted; otherwise retain the appropriate pump-out arrangement.
The duty limit is 15 minutes of continuous operation. Run-dry protection is a backup: the manual still directs you to avoid more than 30 seconds dry and stop when the tank empties. Position the operating switch so the changing pump sound can be heard.
Protect and control its DC feed
The 12 V wiring table specifies 20 A draw for circuit design and a 25 A fuse. The head/flow table separately shows approximately 14–16.5 A over its published operating points. The catalog uses the wiring-table value, not the fuse, and supplies no invented startup surge.
Use the manual's controlled positive feed and negative return, with accessible isolation. The wire table uses complete positive-plus-negative circuit length. Some printed AWG-to-metric conversions are inconsistent; select a real conductor size by ampacity and route length instead of treating those columns as exact equivalents. Catalog terminal limits are protection-based planning bounds.
Make the suction side airtight
The inlet accepts 38 mm hose or the specified NPT connection, and discharge is 25 mm hose. Mount close to the tank, use the vibration grommets and avoid restrictions. If mounted vertically, keep the pump head below the motor. An air leak at a deck pump-out tee or cap can prevent priming even when there is no visible liquid leak.
The manual requires a vented-loop arrangement when discharge is below the waterline, with the loop above the waterline through heel and trim. Follow the applicable plumbing drawing and keep the outlet secure; an ordinary check valve is not the same thing. Do not clamp the pump housing in a vice while modifying a fitting.
Prove evacuation and find faults
Commission with a suitable clean-water test, checking the complete path and switch operation. Listen for the change as the tank empties and stop the pump. Flush the tank after evacuation to reduce sediment accumulation.
If the motor runs but flow is poor, check the airtight suction path, head, discharge restriction and impeller. If it does not run, check voltage under attempted load, connections, correct fuse and control switch. Repeated fuse failure calls for isolating and investigating obstruction or electrical faults. Never put a hand into the cutter path while the unit can receive power.
Manual and evidence
Jabsco 18590 manual: PDF p. 2 identifies the exact voltage variants, current/flow curve and duty; pp. 3–4 cover protection, complete circuit length, plumbing and troubleshooting. The downloaded PDF is hashed in the marine ledger.
