Run-length and manufacturer assumptions

The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.

12 V freshwater version only: 25 A protection, dedicated circuit and 3% voltage drop. The 4 mm² example is limited to 2.8 m total; use the manufacturer table for longer wiring. Manufacturer installation manual

Identify the freshwater 12 V configuration

220HF012 is the standard-height angled-back Marine Elegance freshwater version with Smart Toilet Control. This walkthrough uses the manual for toilets manufactured after August 2016; confirm the date and installed control before following its diagram. The 12 V freshwater table specifies 18 A operating draw and a 25 A fuse/breaker. Raw-water versions use different protection and an additional intake pump, so their 30 A figure does not apply here. Flush operation is intermittent and must not exceed the manual’s 30-second motor run limit.

Provide a dedicated protected supply

Use a dedicated circuit and connect the toilet through its supplied controller/harness, retaining the labeled polarity. The catalog supply terminals represent that complete assembly, not bare motor terminals. The manual uses a 3% voltage-drop cable table based on the sum of positive and negative lengths: up to 10 feet total uses 12 AWG, shown as 4 mm² in its metric column; 15–20 feet requires 10 AWG. A 1.4 m-per-leg example stays under the first limit. Longer routes need the next appropriate table entry and an actual loaded voltage check.

Keep the water and waste installation within the model

The freshwater inlet requires the specified pressurized supply and a 1/2-inch connection. The retained 2016 manual gives 3 US GPM at 5 PSI, while the 2023 Raritan catalog raises the minimum to 3.5 US GPM at 10 PSI. Use that later requirement for a current installation and verify the supplied revision; do not copy the older manual’s inconsistent litre conversion. Use supported sanitation hose sizes and route waste without restrictions or low pockets that trap excessive water. Where plumbing connects to the sea, locate vented loops and seacocks according to the maximum heeled waterline, not simply the upright dockside level. The freshwater solenoid/backflow arrangement must follow the supplied diagram.

Commission with the matching control instructions

Complete the separate Smart Toilet Control wiring instructions for the actual control revision, then verify water admission, flush and dry-bowl functions. Check supply voltage while the macerator runs and inspect every joint for leakage. Confirm that the pump stops at the end of each cycle. Keep hard objects and unsuitable waste out of the bowl; isolate power before clearing a blockage. The example sizes the complete controlled assembly’s DC supply. Internal controller wiring still requires its own instructions; the example is not a controller pinout.

Manual and scope

Raritan installation manual, L490 0816jlc, August 2016; p. 4 freshwater ratings and round-trip wire table; pp. 5–9 mounting/plumbing/electrical scope; controller instructions are separate. The original PDF is retained in the marine source ledger. The drawing represents the identified electrical interfaces; it does not simulate the equipment’s mechanical performance, radio signals or fluid system. Unpublished connector ampacity and startup current remain unspecified.

Build it out

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Add 220HF012 to your diagram, then connect your batteries, chargers and loads. Crimp calculates cable sizes and checks the connections as you draw.

Every cable you draw there is sized against ABYC E-11, from the same tables as the reference on this page.

  3. 25 A fuse and holder on the positive run
  4. Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Where the specifications and sizing come from.

Manufacturer specifications describe the equipment. Crimp calculates cable results from the circuit and assumptions you enter.

From the maker

What the catalog says

Manufacturer, model, ratings and which terminal does what come from the catalog. A newer revision, or the nameplate on the unit in your hand, can say something different — when it does, the nameplate wins.

ABYC E-11

What Crimp worked out

Sized against ABYC E-11. Boats built to UK or EU rules answer to ISO 13297 — check these figures against it before you build. The run length and the current above are what drive the result. Crimp doesn't know how warm your space gets; draw the cable inside an engine-bay zone on the canvas and it sizes for the heat.
