About this wiring example

Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.

Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

What is included in PICO One?

The current PICO One set contains a PICO display and SC303 300 A shunt. It can monitor one bank’s current, two voltages, and two resistance inputs for tanks or temperatures. It is not the legacy restricted PICOone display, nor a BMS that disconnects the battery.

Where are the power and sense connections?

The SC303 instructions recommend negative-side installation: bank negative to IN, every load and charger return to OUT. Install the fused voltage-sense connections, optional temperature probe and SiCOM data cable. The catalog’s V1/V2 pins are measurement leads, not power distribution outputs.

PICO also needs its 6–35 V supply through the splitter, as described in the display manual. The splitter and modules need a dry location even though the display is water resistant. Do not feed a 48 V bank directly to that supply just because voltage sensing reaches 75 V.

What must be configured?

Assign the shunt and voltage channel to the battery, enter chemistry and actual bank capacity, then check current direction with a known load. Add tank senders by assigning their physical resistance channels and calibrating against real fill points. The manufacturer support notes say to leave unavailable C10/C5 battery characteristics unset rather than guess them.

What limits and checks matter?

The SC303 carries 300 A continuous; its larger brief peak ratings do not justify continuous inverter or thruster loading above that. Use the shunt manual’s cable requirements as well as the circuit’s ampacity/drop calculation. If the shunt disappears from menus, inspect SiCOM connections and supply/sense polarity. If current has the wrong sign, check IN/OUT orientation or the configured reversal before recalibrating capacity.

Build it out

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Add PICO-ONE (PICO + SC303) to your diagram, then connect your batteries, chargers and loads. Crimp calculates cable sizes and checks the connections as you draw.

Every cable you draw there is sized against ABYC E-11, from the same tables as the reference on this page.

Supporting parts

  1. A lug or terminal to match each post on the part
  2. Strain relief and boots so nothing chafes or shorts
  3. Cable and fuses sized once the whole system is drawn

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Method & provenance

Where the specifications and sizing come from.

Manufacturer specifications describe the equipment. Crimp calculates cable results from the circuit and assumptions you enter.

From the maker

What the catalog says

Manufacturer, model, ratings and which terminal does what come from the catalog. A newer revision, or the nameplate on the unit in your hand, can say something different — when it does, the nameplate wins.

ABYC E-11

What Crimp worked out

Sized against ABYC E-11 — the US reference, and what Transport Canada accepts as an alternative to TP 1332 for pleasure craft under 24 m. The run length and the current above are what drive the result. Crimp doesn't know how warm your space gets; draw the cable inside an engine-bay zone on the canvas and it sizes for the heat.
