What it does
MPPT solar charge controller: takes a solar array of up to 100 V open-circuit and charges a 12 V or 24 V battery at up to 50 A. Nominal PV power is 700 W on a 12 V bank and 1400 W on 24 V; battery voltage is detected automatically, and Bluetooth plus a VE.Direct port handle setup and monitoring.
Wiring it
The PV side connects to the array (max short-circuit current 60 A per the datasheet); the battery side goes to the bank through its own fuse. The controller charges whatever the battery side reads on first power-up, so connect the battery before the panels.
What people get wrong
Sizing the string by its rated Voc at 25 °C. A panel's open-circuit voltage rises as temperature falls, and the 100 V input limit applies on the coldest morning of the year — not in the datasheet's test conditions. Three 12 V-nominal panels in series can sit comfortably under 100 V in summer and exceed it below freezing. Size the string so cold-weather Voc stays under the limit, or use fewer panels in series.
