Which portable charger is covered?
The Blue Smart IP65 12/7 charges a nominal 12 V battery at up to 7 A. Its Low mode is 2 A, useful when the battery cannot accept full current. The 230 V version covered here accepts 180–265 VAC; the separate 120 V version accepts 100–130 VAC in its current manual. Match the mains voltage on the installed unit before connecting it.
How are the leads connected?
Crimp's BATT + / BATT − map to the red/black DC lead and interchangeable battery connection. The charger is supplied with clamps and M8 ring terminals; this model's lead is 1.5 mm². AC L / AC N represent its mains cord rather than accessible wiring terminals. The Bluetooth connection, mode button, and accessory quick connector are not drawn.
For a permanently wired battery, isolate the DC system, connect with correct polarity, then apply mains. For temporary charging of a conventional negative-ground vehicle, connect positive to battery positive and negative to the specified chassis point away from the battery. Disconnect mains before removing the DC connections, following the manual's reverse sequence.
Which fuse protects the battery lead?
The protection table, printed page 18 recommends 10–20 A external protection for the 12/7, coordinated with the installed cable and located near battery positive. A fuse near the charger cannot protect cable upstream from it. Optional connector accessories sometimes include a 30 A fuse; that accessory value is not automatically the right protection for every charger, extension, or cable route.
Which charging settings matter?
Normal mode uses 14.4 V absorption, 13.8 V float, and 13.2 V storage. The Li-ion preset uses 14.2 V absorption without lead-acid temperature compensation. Choose the battery-approved profile and current in VictronConnect or through the mode button; do not infer chemistry from nominal 12 V alone. The full-current lead-acid guideline starts at 23 Ah, but actual battery limits take precedence.
Recondition is an optional high-voltage treatment for suitable lead-acid batteries, not routine lithium charging. Do not charge lithium below 0°C without an appropriate battery-controlled arrangement.
How is it installed and checked?
Keep the charger ventilated on a nonflammable surface with 100 mm above and below, protected from weather and away from battery gases. Permanent mounting is vertical with the AC cord downward. Full output is specified up to 30°C. IP65 does not make accessory joints or the mains outlet waterproof. Confirm the displayed mode, battery voltage, and charge current after connection.
