About this terminal map

Opening this part in Crimp starts a new project with the equipment placed on its own. Use the manufacturer documentation to plan its AC connections and protective devices.

The map identifies line, neutral and protective-earth connections. This page does not calculate an AC cable size or protection rating.

Which isolation transformer is this?

This is ITR040362042, the manually configured 3600 W model, not the automatic-input variant. The manufacturer manual gives 115/230 V input, 120/240 V output, and 32 A / 16 A ratings respectively. The planner’s default is the 230 V, 16 A arrangement. The transformer changes voltage configuration, not frequency.

How are shore and vessel connected?

The primary INPUT L/N/PE and secondary OUTPUT L/N/PE are distinct. Power crosses magnetically; there is no conductive primary-to-secondary line or neutral path. Afloat, shore earth remains isolated from the vessel earth. Follow the manual’s secondary neutral-to-earth link so downstream protective devices have the intended fault path. This is different from removing the earth wire from a conventional shore connection.

What must be configured before energizing?

Installation pages 5–9 identify separate input and output jumper settings, the secondary neutral/earth link, enclosure grounding and cable glands. Check both voltage configurations against the actual shore supply and vessel distribution. Never move jumpers on an energized transformer. The special shore-to-vessel earth bridge is for the specified out-of-water maintenance/storage condition, not the normal afloat arrangement.

What should operation look like?

Soft start limits startup inrush; it does not replace feeder overcurrent protection or downstream leakage protection. Keep the IP21 enclosure dry and ventilated. The fan increases speed with temperature and thermal protection stops operation if it overheats. Verify output voltage before connecting sensitive loads, and investigate repeated thermal shutdown by checking load and cooling clearance.

Build it out

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Add ITR040362042 to your diagram, then connect your batteries, chargers and loads. Crimp calculates cable sizes and checks the connections as you draw.

Every cable you draw there is sized against ABYC E-11, from the same tables as the reference on this page.

Supporting parts

  1. A lug or terminal to match each post on the part
  2. Strain relief and boots so nothing chafes or shorts
  3. Cable and fuses sized once the whole system is drawn

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Method & provenance

Where the specifications and sizing come from.

Manufacturer specifications describe the equipment. Crimp calculates cable results from the circuit and assumptions you enter.

From the maker

What the catalog says

Manufacturer, model, ratings and which terminal does what come from the catalog. A newer revision, or the nameplate on the unit in your hand, can say something different — when it does, the nameplate wins.

ABYC E-11

What Crimp worked out

Sized against ABYC E-11 — the US reference, and what Transport Canada accepts as an alternative to TP 1332 for pleasure craft under 24 m. The run length and the current above are what drive the result. Crimp doesn't know how warm your space gets; draw the cable inside an engine-bay zone on the canvas and it sizes for the heat.
