DC-only example for MultiPlus 12/1200/50-16, 120 V / 60 Hz. Victron recommends 150–700 Ah and 35 mm² battery cable for 1.5–5 m runs. Automatic sizing may select larger conductors from the estimated peak demand. The manual's 200 A MIDI/BF1 fuse is INTERNAL, not a specification for the external battery-cable fuse shown here. Verify external protection, interrupt rating, battery/BMS limits and actual routing separately. The example leaves AC and protective earth disconnected. Manufacturer installation manual

Sized against ABYC E-11. The design current is a catalog planning estimate for inverter operation at nominal battery voltage, not a measured draw. Actual current changes with load, battery voltage and efficiency. Check the exact model's cable, fuse and installation requirements. The length is one way; voltage drop includes an equal-length return.
Run-length and manufacturer assumptions
The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.

Supporting parts
- 20 ft total of 2 AWG (35 mm²) marine cable
- Terminations for 2 AWG cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
- 150 A fuse and holder on the positive run
- Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable
Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Which MultiPlus 12/1200 is this?
This is MultiPlus 12/1200/50-16, 120 V / 60 Hz, with a 12 V battery connection. It is distinct from the 230 V version and the Phoenix inverter. Victron's exact model table gives 1200 VA / 1000 W at 25°C, 900 W at 40°C, 2400 W peak, a 50 A house-battery charger and 16 A transfer switch. The 1200 VA label is not 1200 W continuous output.
Crimp estimates inverter demand at 90 A continuous and 215 A peak from power divided by 12 V and the published maximum efficiency of 93%. Real demand depends on battery voltage, load and efficiency; peak duration is unspecified. These estimates are separate from the charging current. Unknown DC terminal ampacity is left unspecified.
What cable and protection does it need?
Installation §4.2 recommends a 150–700 Ah bank and 35 mm² battery cables for 1.5–5 m runs. The example uses a 200 Ah placeholder bank; its declared current allowances still require verification against your battery/BMS. Crimp's conservative peak-based calculation may suggest larger cable.
The manual's 200 A MIDI/BF1 fuse is internal. It is not a prescribed external battery-cable fuse. Select external protection for the actual conductors, routing, available fault current and fuse/holder ratings.
What does the drawing cover?
The editable example connects DC only. The catalog exposes AC input/output L, N and PE plus chassis ground, but the example does not design their protection or grounding. PowerAssist can add inverter output to shore power, so the 16 A transfer rating is not presented as a verified AC-output ceiling. The internal ground relay, auxiliary starter charging, sensors, VE.Bus and remote connections need the complete manual.
