Connection and installation overview

Two independently switched positive colour leads and a common negative require a selector topology; a generic two-terminal circuit could omit or join the colour inputs.

Which lamp is represented?

This entry is EuroLED 75 part 2JA 015 247-011: a 12 V red/white downlight with a white plastic screw-mount rim. HELLA's product family page distinguishes the mounting and colour variants. The 12 V and 24 V lamps are separate versions; this part is not a universal 12/24 V lamp.

What do the three leads do?

The instruction sheet, page 1, assigns black to common negative, white to positive for white light, and red to positive for red light. Provide separate switched feeds for colour selection. Red is therefore not the sole positive supply, and the two positives must not simply be bridged together to make a two-wire example. The page remains an overview so its topology preserves that distinction.

What current and fuse values are supported?

The wiring table assigns 3 W to white and 1 W to red. The catalog models those modes separately as calculated 0.25 A and approximately 0.083 A at 12 V. The sheet also quotes 0.19 A alongside its 3 W family specification; that inconsistency is why the conservative power-derived value is identified as a calculation rather than a measured current. Simultaneous operation of both colour feeds is not modelled.

The lamp must be protected by a fuse no greater than 3 A. That ceiling does not mean a 3 A running load or a verified 3 A terminal rating. Select actual source protection for the installed wiring and keep it within that maximum.

How is the lamp mounted and sealed?

Follow the screw-mount drawing for the chosen rim and avoid damaging the factory tinned leads. The housing is sealed to the stated IP6K7/IP6K9K rating, but cable joints still need proper environmental protection and support. Use a compatible PWM dimmer if dimming is required. Do not open the lamp: there are no user-serviceable internal parts.

What is checked before closing the ceiling?

Test each colour independently with the other positive feed isolated, confirm the selector's off position, and inspect the negative return and protected joints. Confirm that the lamp label is the 12 V part and that the fuse remains within the 3 A maximum. Secure all cables before fitting the trim.

Build it out

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Add 2JA 015 247-011 to your diagram, then connect your batteries, chargers and loads. Crimp calculates cable sizes and checks the connections as you draw.

Every cable you draw there is sized against ABYC E-11, from the same tables as the reference on this page.

  1. A lug or terminal to match each post on the part
  2. Strain relief and boots so nothing chafes or shorts
  3. Cable and fuses sized once the whole system is drawn

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Manufacturer specifications describe the equipment. Crimp calculates cable results from the circuit and assumptions you enter.

What the catalog says

Manufacturer, model, ratings and which terminal does what come from the catalog. A newer revision, or the nameplate on the unit in your hand, can say something different — when it does, the nameplate wins.

ABYC E-11

What Crimp worked out

Sized against ABYC E-11 — the US reference, and what Transport Canada accepts as an alternative to TP 1332 for pleasure craft under 24 m. The run length and the current above are what drive the result. Crimp doesn't know how warm your space gets; draw the cable inside an engine-bay zone on the canvas and it sizes for the heat.
