Run-length and manufacturer assumptions

The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.

Verified against the manufacturer's documentation (rev. Whale Watermaster exterior pump range installation and operation instructions, manufacturer PDF mirrored by Amazon), checked 2026-10-01. Manufacturer documentation →

Which plug and pump are represented?

The EP1612 Watermaster uses the Easi-Push plug for the compatible Whale inlet socket. It is not the EP1622 version for the Truma Crystal II socket. The model list, page 1, should be checked before ordering a replacement. The catalog supply terminals represent the installed socket feed rather than loose contacts to splice into the sealed pump plug.

What current is documented?

The technical table, page 2, gives a 9.5–14.5 V supply range and 3.8 A at zero delivery head, decreasing to 3.5 A at 3 m head. Its zero-head flow figure is 15.8 L/min under the stated conditions. The model uses 3.8 A as the greatest listed operating current; startup and connector current ratings are not supplied.

How is the pump controlled and protected?

Use the specified 5 A automotive fuse. Connect the socket supply to the appropriate pressure-switch or tap-microswitch arrangement shown in the manual; the submersible pump is not an always-running water source. Confirm polarity from the actual socket and loom markings rather than assigning colours to unseen wiring. Extension length and conductor sizing require the complete socket installation instructions and a loaded-voltage check.

What must happen before switching on?

Place the pump into the water container before energising it. Keep the pump submerged during operation and ensure the hose can reach without being kinked or pulling on the plug. Never use the power cable as a lifting handle. Keep the plug and socket clean and fitted as intended, particularly when handling the external container beside the vehicle.

How are commissioning and storage handled?

Open a tap to purge air, switch on, and verify water delivery, correct control-switch operation and a secure socket connection. If the pump fails to supply water, check immersion, trapped air and the fuse before repeatedly running it. Disconnect and drain the external pump and hose for freezing storage. A pressure-control fault and a failed motor can give similar symptoms, so test the socket circuit before replacing the pump.
