Connection and installation overview

The manual publishes a minimum 2 A service capability and internal 5 A fuse, but no running-current or source-branch fuse specification. Neither number can safely supply the missing load estimate.

Which Dome version is covered?

This is the non-LED MAXXFAN Dome 3810 roof or wall exhaust fan. The 3812 lighted version has additional wiring, so its light feed must not be inferred from the 3810 drawing. The opening and supply requirements, page 1, call for a 6¼-inch opening and a suitable roof or wall thickness of 1–6 inches.

What do the supply leads represent?

Follow the non-LED diagram on page 5: connect the marked positive 12 V DC lead and negative 12 V DC lead with the supplied connectors. The catalog uses those labels rather than assuming a wire colour. Keep the connections protected from abrasion and water, and verify polarity before restoring power.

What is known about current and protection?

MAXXAIR requires a 12 V supply capable of at least 2 A. That is a minimum service capability, not a stated operating current. The manual also identifies a 5 A GMA fast-acting internal fuse on page 7. Neither value establishes the continuous rating of the connector or the correct source-branch fuse for every cable route. Running draw and extension sizing remain unspecified here, so no invented daily energy estimate or complete generic supply circuit is shown.

How should it be mounted and operated?

Use the supplied mounting sequence and a sealant compatible with the mounting surface. Open the lid before running the fan; the lid is not a motorised damper. Keep the screen fitted and keep hands away from the blade. This is a general ventilation fan, not equipment for exhausting combustible vapours.

What is checked after installation?

Confirm that the lid opens freely, the fan starts on its own switch, and the flange remains sealed after a water check. If the appliance fuse has opened, isolate power and investigate before replacing it with the same type. Clean the accessible surfaces and screen using the manual's mild-cleaner method rather than solvents that can damage the plastic.

Build it out

Connect it to the rest of your system.

Add Dome 3810 to your diagram, then connect your batteries, chargers and loads. Crimp calculates cable sizes and checks the connections as you draw.

Every cable you draw there is sized against ABYC E-11, from the same tables as the reference on this page.

Supporting parts

  1. A lug or terminal to match each post on the part
  2. Strain relief and boots so nothing chafes or shorts
  3. Cable and fuses sized once the whole system is drawn

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Manufacturer specifications describe the equipment. Crimp calculates cable results from the circuit and assumptions you enter.

From the maker

What the catalog says

Manufacturer, model, ratings and which terminal does what come from the catalog. A newer revision, or the nameplate on the unit in your hand, can say something different — when it does, the nameplate wins.

ABYC E-11

What Crimp worked out

Sized against ABYC E-11. Boats built to UK or EU rules answer to ISO 13297 — check these figures against it before you build. The run length and the current above are what drive the result. Crimp doesn't know how warm your space gets; draw the cable inside an engine-bay zone on the canvas and it sizes for the heat.
