Match the shaft and voltage

RW08A is the 12 V, two-speed wiper motor with a 25 mm spindle and parallel end. Select an arm and blade compatible with that shaft and the intended wiped area. The manufacturer's current measurements use a 400 mm arm and 400 mm blade: 1.7 A at the low speed and 2.5 A at the high speed. Larger or differently loaded hardware should not be assumed to have the same demand.

Wire the switch and parking circuit

VETUS requires a 4 A fuse or automatic breaker for the 12 V motor, connecting conductors of at least 1.5 mm² and a switch rated for 10 A. Connect terminal G to the supply negative: this motor uses an insulated return rather than relying on its mount as the return conductor. Increase cable size where length and voltage drop require it.

Follow the supplied switch diagram for the speed and self-parking connections. A self-parking motor may need a live path after the helm switch requests stop, so a generic two-wire on/off connection does not describe all of its terminals. The canvas pair reserves the whole switched supply circuit; it is not a literal motor-terminal diagram. Its 4 A terminal limits are protection-based planning bounds, and 2.5 A is the published high-speed test load rather than an invented surge.

Set the sweep while protecting the glass

Check clearances and the desired wipe area before drilling. The standard setting is a 110-degree sweep with a particular park side; the manual provides positions from 40 to 110 degrees and instructions for changing the park side. Bring the motor to its park position before changing the internal arrangement so the selected geometry has a known reference.

Use the drawing for the RW shaft and mounting bracket rather than confusing it with the DIN-arm variant. Follow the specified fastener torques for the relevant joint. VETUS specifically warns against adjusting the screw on the outside of the motor. Keep the motor in a protected location: the reviewed technical sheet lists IP20 for the assembly, not an exposed waterproof deck installation.

Test both speeds and the park position

With the arm path clear and the glass wet, test low speed, high speed and a stop request partway through a sweep. The arm should return to the chosen park position without striking the frame or running beyond the glass. Recheck arm length and attachment after the initial cycles.

If it stops wherever the switch is released, inspect the parking circuit against the diagram. If motion is slow or the fuse opens, check for a binding arm, excessive blade load and voltage drop before replacing parts. Isolate power before adjusting the linkage. In salt-water service, regularly rinse the arm, blade and shaft with fresh water.

Catalog specification

12 V wiper motor with 25 mm spindle and adjustable sweep. With the specified 400 mm arm/blade, draw is 1.7 A low or 2.5 A high. Requires a 4 A fuse or breaker, minimum 1.5 mm² wiring and a 10 A-rated switch. Symbol is the whole switched supply circuit; speed and self-park wiring follow the VETUS diagram. Terminal values are protection-based planning bounds.
