Sized against ABYC E-11. The design current is the unit's rated output. The length is one way; voltage drop includes an equal-length return.
Run-length and manufacturer assumptions
The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.
Supporting parts
- 6.1 m total of 10 mm² (8 AWG) marine cable
- Terminations for 10 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
- 35 A fuse and holder on the positive run
- Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable
Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Which 12/25 charger is this?
The Blue Smart IP67 12/25 is a mains charger for a nominal 12 V battery, with 25 A maximum charge current and 10 A Low mode. It is not an inverter or a DC-DC converter. Confirm the AC nameplate: the reviewed 230 V version accepts 180–265 VAC; the separate 120 V manual specifies 100–130 VAC. These are separate products, not one universal-input unit.
How do the connections map?
BATT + / BATT − represent the permanently attached red/black cable with M8 ring terminals. This model is supplied with 6 mm² cable. The manual permits shortening and reterminating the DC lead; an extension needs a separate conductor, voltage-drop, and protection check.
AC L / AC N / AC ⏚ represent the mains cord, including its protective-earth conductor. Preserve that earth connection through the genuine supply cord and an earthed outlet; the revised symbol includes it. Connect DC with sources and loads isolated, verify polarity, then apply AC. For temporary charging in a vehicle, follow the manual's chassis-connection sequence.
Which protection is required?
The external-protection table, printed page 16 gives 40–50 A for this model, selected with the actual conductor and fuse type. Place that protection close to battery positive. The 12/25 has no fuse in its supplied DC cable; its internal fuse does not protect the battery-side cable. The specification table also lists a 30 A internal fuse, which is not user-serviceable.
What must be configured?
Use VictronConnect to choose chemistry and current. Normal mode uses 14.4 / 13.8 / 13.2 V for absorption, float, and storage. The lithium preset uses 14.2 V absorption and disables lead-acid temperature compensation. Those presets require the battery manufacturer's approval; they do not bypass a BMS or permit charging lithium below 0°C. Select Low mode if the bank cannot accept 25 A. House loads consume part of the charger output, reducing current available to recharge the battery.
Where should it be mounted?
Mount vertically with both cables downward, on a nonflammable surface, with 100 mm clearance above and below. Despite the IP67 enclosure, the installation chapter calls for a protected, ventilated location away from flammable gases and liquids, never directly above or sealed in with the battery. Rated output is available up to 40°C, then derates. Waterproofing does not remove the need to protect plugs and cable joints.
